The Zen and Healthy Recovery Centre
https://www.zenhealthyrecovery.com/
Marla Luna runs the booking side of the “Zen and Healthy” facility where you recover; +1 (619) 576-7219
Marcia (pronounced Marsha) is the manager
You should hear about transfers approx 18-24 hours ahead of your flight; they’ll WhatsApp you to make arrangements
Loo paper does not go down the toilet; use the little bin next to the loo
If you don’t know Spanish, it’s a good idea to have a translation app available. I’ve been learning against for about 40 days and it definitely helps a little.
You only get so many free coffees included
Make sure you get a plug adapter suitable for the American; they’re different from UK and European sockets
Mornings (at least in February) are cold; take a dressing gown
On intake they ask all about food preferences and allergies
You have to pay for the coffees. I was drinking a latte in the morning. They cost $4 and you settle for extra snacks and drinks when you leave.
On the second or third day after your procedure, the doctor will come to check on you. You’ll have the thick bandages replaced by something lighter. You will need your own compression pants to maintain pressure. If they’re not tight enough, you will feel uncomfortable.
You will need to pay approx £220 for transfers and the medical pass if you’re flying home from San Diego
The recovery centre won’t give you any dressings to take with you
Do make sure you take your prescription medicines with you
You may also book the procedure with Marla at the Zen and Healthy recovery centre. She books all transfers between the airport and the hospital, as well as the health pass needed for the return to San Diego airport. You might find dealing with her grin the outset more convenient.
